So. It’s done. My time in Korea has come to an end. 98% of my Earthly posessions were packed up and are soon to be on a boat traveling across the Pacific in hopes of making it to Colorado unscathed. The other 2% is in my backpack and will come with me as I venture around Asia.

This week was a whirlwind of awesomeness. I’ve never felt so loved in all my life and am truly grateful for all the wonderful people and experiences I was lucky to have while I lived here. I don’t have words to describe my emotions right now.

Korea will forever be a part of me.

Moving on…

Uh…

I just had to run downstairs for some chopsticks. I was just down there buying my lunch of ramen but forgot I had given away all my utensils last night. I was tempted to make two pencils work but decided against the possibility of lead poisoning at the last minute.

Last day of winter camp was a hot mess of Golden Bell fun. It’s a Korean trivia game where kids answer a series of questions in single elimination. It is quite the popular game here and the kids rocked it.

I mean, of course they did. They’re MY kids!

Moon had free tickets to the 63Building in Yeoido. It used to be the tallest building in Korea (maybe the world?) but is no longer. However, still kind of a tourist attraction. I’ve actually never been in the time I’ve spent here and didn’t really have any desire to go, but we got access to a 3D movie (about airplanes?), the aquarium, and the art museum on the top floor.
The movies was loud. The aquarium was kinda creepy (but also kinda cool) and the art museum had great views.
I wouldn’t think you’d miss much if you came to Korea and skipped the 63 Building, but if you make it there be sure to catch the underwater act done by a solo synchronized swimmer in a giant fish tank.

School festival was last week. Some select ‘English’ kids had to do a dance to the infamous Do-Re-Mi. Oddly enough, neither Hana, Aaron, or I had anything to do with the ENGLISH group’s performance and as a result the signs held up at the end of the performance read: ‘Do-Ra-Mi-Fa-So-Ra-Si” while the flip side said, “We are proud to be English speakers.” Only it said so in KOREAN.
Whatever. At least their outfits were cute.
Oh, and blow-fish face in the middle- that’s the only face he’d give in the million pictures taken of him. He’s a gem.

Riding in cars with Koreans

No child seat restraint rules or regulations so kids bounce around the back seat until they wear themselves out:

And, when space is tight, double parking is totally acceptable:

Just leave your car in neutral so others may PUSH it out of the way when the need to get their car out:

Almost a year ago Mom and Kiki made a sudden decision to spend 추석 with me here in Korea. Thanks ‘Thanksgiving’ for all you who missed your 한국어 lessons.

Recently I returned to Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul under slightly different weather conditions. Yup! Rain. I wasn’t lying when I said all it does here is rain.

Anyway, they likely won’t be coming back as I am going to see them in a few short weeks and then plan to skiddadle out of here come March 2012 as per a contract I just signed off on.

Seriously.

This is it.
